Hello! Have you been watching the news? PQ.Hosting changed its name this week to THE.Hosting, and everyone is talking about it in the hosting community. I viewed the forum posts published on LowEntTalk and updates to understand exactly what's going on, and there is more to the story than just a name change.
However, the real story behind this name change is that the company linked to PQ.Hosting, Stark Industries Solutions Ltd., had been sanctioned by the EU government in May 2025. That is to say, the company faced both political and legal issues in Europe which would have forced them to change names quickly.
Let’s put it plainly – When the EU adds a company to its sanction list, that company is unable to act with as much freedom as it once may have to operate. In changing names, it is possible they are trying to avoid being sanctioned or having sanctions trouble in Europe.
2. Improving Their Image
PQ.Hosting did not have the best image. Users on forums complained about a lack of support and poor billing practice, and bad communication. The name change allows to them hide behind the new name, and possibly make a new attempt to rebuilding trust.
• Services Remain Unchanged – Customers will not need to take any action. Servers, pricing, and billing will stay the same.
• Automatic Transition – Accounts and websites will now operate under THE.Hosting.
• Potential Issues in the EU – Some users in Europe may experience service problems as a result of sanctions.
• Still the Same Owners? – Meaning is unclear at this stage- it'll be interesting to watch what happens and whether it is indeed new management.
What Changed?
A few months ago, PQ.Hosting said they were going to change their name and change everything - servers, accounts, systems - to a brand new name called THE.Hosting. Accepting that customers would not loose data or services. All existing services would continue to work just as before, only under another name. However, the real story behind this name change is that the company linked to PQ.Hosting, Stark Industries Solutions Ltd., had been sanctioned by the EU government in May 2025. That is to say, the company faced both political and legal issues in Europe which would have forced them to change names quickly.
Why Did They Change the Name?
1. Sanction and Legal ProblemsLet’s put it plainly – When the EU adds a company to its sanction list, that company is unable to act with as much freedom as it once may have to operate. In changing names, it is possible they are trying to avoid being sanctioned or having sanctions trouble in Europe.

3. The Same Individuals, Just A New Name?
Some users saw this as not really being a "new" company. It is possible that the same individuals and hardware same just got a new name to operate under, in other words, they changed the brand name, but the same company continues to operate. What Will Remain the Same?
Here’s a brief summary:• Services Remain Unchanged – Customers will not need to take any action. Servers, pricing, and billing will stay the same.

• Potential Issues in the EU – Some users in Europe may experience service problems as a result of sanctions.
