Which templating framework to use when creating a static website from scratch?

When it comes to creating a static website from scratch, we have a couple of templates that are used by many people.

The likes of Gatsby (Javascript), Eleventy, Middleman, and others. Personally, I believe that before building, it is necessary to consider things such as the community support, plugins availability, programming language familiarity, and how it integrates with cms.

What template did you use, and why do you have to do so?
