Hi my all forum friends! Good news—Proxmox VE 9.0 BETA is out now! You may want to have a look at it if you're running virtual machines (VPS) with Proxmox.

What's New in Proxmox VE 9.0 BETA?

Let's talk about what's new and why you should be interested.

Based on Debian 12.5 with Kernel 6.8

It implies the system is based on a newer base. It supports newer hardware and runs smoother overall.
  • Improved virtual machine performance.
  • Closer machines and devices are fewer bugs.

QEMU 8.2 & LXC 6.0

They're the programs that execute virtual machines and containers. Now they execute smoother than ever.
  • Seamless migration (transferring machines between servers).
  • Smoother speed when executing many VPS.
Did you ever have a VM crash when you were moving it? That should take care of that.

A More Attractive Interface

They also made the web panel a little nicer. It's nicer to look at and cleaner to the eyes.
  • Fast dashboard
  • Improved dark mode (finally less eye-straining!)
If you're working with a lot of VMs day in, day out, even small improvements like these make a difference.

Improved security and storage efficiency

Security and storage also improved:
  • Better AppArmor rules to help lock down your containers better.
  • Advanced ZFS 2.2.3 to better protect your hard drives.
  • Ceph Quincy and Reef supported for backup and shared storage.
Nervous about your information? These improvements have you covered – all secure and running.

Should I Try It Immediately?

Think about upgrading. This is what I would do:
  • If you need Proxmox for critical tasks, wait patiently for the ultimate update.
  • Test your test server! I tested it myself, and it's great.
Finally, Proxmox VE 9.0 BETA isn't just a minor update-it actually brings value to the table. System runs faster, more secure, and with ease.

Want to see for yourself? Test it out by installing it on a test server and experiment. You may be surprised at how silky smooth it runs on.

Have you used it yet? Let me hear your opinion. I am still trying it out, but I adore it so far!
