Hello! I have some big news—Insight Partners, one of the largest venture capital firms, recently alerted many thousands of people that their private information may have been involved in a ransomware breach. Just think this type of big organizations are getting hacked today!

How Did They Get Hacked?

Last month in October 2024, hackers manipulated some employees by either granting access or clicking into malicious links—this is called social engineering, which is hacking people, instead of computers. Once they got access, they stole sensitive information and locked down servers on January 16, 2025.

Do you wonder why hackers use this tactic? Easy—humans make errors much faster than technology can breach!

What Data Was Taken?

The compromised data is serious. The attached stole information:

• Banking and tax information
• Personal information of both current and ex-employees
• Details about limited partners
• Questions about management companies, funds, and portfolio companies

In total, 12,657 people were involved. Insight Partners will send letters to inform individuals and offer free credit or identity monitoring.

The Importance Of This Situation

Insight Partners has over $90 billion in assets under management investing in over 800 tech startups which either implicates, is directly dependent upon, or is impacted by some element of technology, so a hack is not only your personal information but it could also expose the company secrets.

And it shows the world that no corporation both big and small is safe from being hacked. Every year ransomware attacks get more sophisticated and eventually they will figure out a way to hack any company.

What To Do If You Get A Letter From Insight Partners

1. Read the letter in its entirety, please.
2. Sign up for the free monitoring service, if offered.
3. Monitor your accounts for any unusual activity.

Even if you are not impacted by this, it is always good to create strong passwords, turn on 2FA and be suspicious of emails or links.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the biggest companies, including Insight Partners, can always be vulnerable online, and if you believe you are impacted, follow the letter's instructions, monitor your accounts, and remain vigilant.

Have you ever received a security notice and checked everything out for yourself? I sure have, it certainly makes you think about your own personal online security!

Stay vigilant, and do not be complacent Hackers!
