It's a great idea to host your site from home, right?

Here's why you would consider it:

• It will saves money. There will be no hosting fees.
• You're in charge and you get to do everything.
• You will learn something new. It's a cool challenge if you enjoy technology.

But just because it sounds good doesn't mean it's going to work good.

The Problems You Don't Notice at First​

Have you ever noticed your internet just shutting down? Now consider your website going down when that occurs.

Here's what happened to me:

• No strong internet – Home internet isn't designed for websites that run 24/7.
• Power cuts – When your electricity is cut off, your website comes down as well.
• Security work – You must protect everything yourself. That's difficult and time-consuming.

Mostly, the internet companies won't allow you to host sites at home. If they catch you, they may slow your internet or turn it off.

Can Your Home Handle Website Visitors?​

Let's be realistic. Your home router and internet can't support many visitors.

I attempted hosting a client website at home once. When some people came by at the same time, the site became really slow and wouldn't work anymore. Professional hosting businesses provide you with faster loading, more visitors and they help when things break.
You won't get all that from home.

I enjoy messing around with servers. It's recreational and I've learned a great deal. But I'll never host my company website at home again. Use a good hosting company. Your website will work better and you’ll worry less.
