Well, you have an additional 1 TB of space on your HostBrr server and you think, "What now?" I asked myself that same question when I got my first server. Mostly I'm happy to have big storage, but if you aren't doing something with it, it is just taking up space. Let me show you five intelligent and fun ways to use that space.
1. Create Your Own Video Library & Music Library
Want to have your own Netflix? You can use apps like Plex or Jellyfin. I saved movies, songs, and family videos onto my HostBrr space, and now I can stream them anytime.
• Watch from anywhere
• Organize by folders
• Shared with family and friends
It feels cool to say, "Yeah, I'm running my own streaming service!"
2. Take Backups
It really hurts to lose files—I once lost a bunch of work when my laptop crashed. So I now make a backup of all my files, photos and documents on HostBrr.
• Use tools like rsync or rclone to copy files.
• Use automatic backups.
• Keep old versions—just in case.
Ask yourself: Would you be happy losing everything tomorrow? If not, backup today.
3. Run your own Game Server
Are you passionate about gaming? Why not use your storage space to operate a server for Minecraft, Valheim, or CS:GO? I hosted a Minecraft world for some friends, and it became "our spot."
The best part is that you have control over the rules! No surprise admins ruining the fun.
4. Make it your own Cloud Drive
What is the point of carrying around USB drives when you could have your own version of something like Google Drive? With some of the tools available today like Nextcloud or Seafile I can use my HostBrr server to keep work files, pictures, even recipes.
Need to share a large file? Send them a link of the file fast and simple.
5. Test Out New Projects
A full terabyte is a lot of room to play. I have used mine to test out websites, applications, and Docker containers without having to worry about space.
Essentially, it is your improve space. You can try stuff, break stuff, learn stuff, it is all good.
To sum it up
That additional terabyte on HostBrr isn't just empty space; it's possibilities. You can store movies, backup files, host games, share folders, or run an experiment.
So, don't let it go. Choose one of those ideas and give it a try, it is amazing how useful it will feel.
