ColoCrossing Data Breached?
So… guess what popped up on my radar this week? Rumors swirling around a possible ColoCrossing data breach. Yeah, the same ColoCrossing that runs data centers like clockwork for tons of businesses. And let me tell you—when a data center sneezes, the internet catches a cold.
What's the Buzz About?
Reportedly, a hacker group is said to have infiltrated coloCrossing and stolen customer databases and other internal documents as well as config files.
I stumbled across the leak on a dark web tracker (don’t worry, just browsing). Supposedly, the breach affected CC’s backend servers, and a few folks are already seeing signs of phishing emails. Coincidence? Hmm…
So, Is It Confirmed?
Nope. ColoCrossing hasn’t officially confirmed the breach yet. But here’s the thing—when smoke like this shows up, fire isn’t usually far behind. You’d think a company with millions of hosted sites would be screaming from the rooftops if everything was totally fine, right?
Why Should You Care?
If you:
• Host anything on ColoCrossing
• Use one of their resellers (FYI, they work with TONS of small VPS providers)
• Have customer data stored on their infrastructure
…then yeah, this matters. A lot.
Data breaches = trust killers.
They can lead to:
• Password leaks
• Credential stuffing attacks
• Identity theft
• Business downtime
Yay, the holy grail of internet nightmares!
What Should You Do?
Until ColoCrossing speaks up, here’s what I’d recommend:
• Rotate passwords (especially if you're using the same one on multiple accounts—don’t lie, we’ve all done it)
• Enable 2FA on everything
• Keep an eye on your email for shady stuff
• Run security scans on your hosted services
Look, I’ve used ColoCrossing before—nothing flashy, but it did the job. But if this turns out to be legit? Oof. The company has indeed taken a massive hit to their reputation. Trust in this game is a thing of the past like toilet paper in 2020 once you run out you have no chance of getting more. So what do you think this is, yet another nothing issue or the beginning of a large scale issue? Is this a nothing burger or the start of something quite messy? Drop your thoughts below—I’m dying to hear if you’ve seen any weird activity lately.
