What is the Difference Between Cloud and VPS?​

Let's simplify:

• Cloud hosting is similar to hosting your site simultaneously on multiple servers. When one crashes, the other will take its place.
• VPS provides you with access to half a server that is all yours.

They both have advantages and disadvantages.

Why Cloud Hosting Can Be Safer​

I didn't think the cloud was superior until I tested it. But when I transferred one of my sites, I noticed how safe it was.

Here's why:

• Power backup: If a cloud server goes down, another keeps your site up.
• Quick patches: Cloud services patch security vulnerabilities quickly—often without you lifting a finger.
• Intrinsic protection: The majority of cloud services (e.g., AWS or Cloudflare) protect you from gigantic attacks on the internet.

Why Some Still Use VPS​

I still use VPS for some of my websites. It gives more control, but you must look after security yourself.

What's nice about it:

• Total control: You can modify settings, firewalls, and load what you need.
• Less vulnerable: Your site is safe if another individual's site gets hacked.

But…

• You have to do updates: The hackers will hack in if you don't.
• Hard to use: One small error will ruin your site. I did that once!

Which One Do You Want to Use in 2025​

Cloud hosting is safer for all. It's easy, smart, and gets better and better. VPS is great if you like control and don't mind doing security stuff. Whatever you do, don't underestimate security. One weak spot ruins the whole thing.
