Think of the bad experience of learning your information may have been compromised. This was the experience of Allianz Life customers! Recently the company announced that a data incident in July 2025 impacted 1.5 million people, including customers, employees, and financial advisers.
• Financial advisers – Anyone who has done business with Allianz.
• Employees – Information about some employees was accessed.
Luckily, Allianz Life's parent company Allianz SE was not involved in the incident.
The incident
On July 16, 2025, an unauthorized individual accessed a cloud application that Allianz Life uses to store information about employees and customers. One compromised data set contained:- Names
- Addresses
- Birth dates
- Social Security numbers (SSNs)
Who was impacted
• Customers – Anyone insured under a life insurance policy or anyone with an annuity policy.• Financial advisers – Anyone who has done business with Allianz.
• Employees – Information about some employees was accessed.
Luckily, Allianz Life's parent company Allianz SE was not involved in the incident.
How Allianz Life responded
Allianz Life efficiently communicated with all affected parties and provided two years of free identity theft protection. They also had a team in place for help with any questions. They communicated to impacted groups to:- Stay alert of any phishing emails or phone calls
- Use credit monitoring
- Think about freezing your credit to halt any fraudulent activity
